Where to get help

Where to start, and services in Tbilisi, Batumi and other regions that assess and treat children with ADHD and related difficulties.

Last checked: 17 October 2026

Where to start

  1. See your family doctor or your child's pediatrician. They check for other possible causes and can refer you to a specialist.1
  2. A psychiatrist, or for children a child psychiatrist, makes the diagnosis.1
  3. The choice is yours. For a child under 16, the parent chooses the outpatient service and the doctor, and can stop an examination or treatment at any time.2

A one-page sheet helps you prepare for the appointment.

Other regions

The state provides community mental health services, including outpatient psychiatric services and mobile mental health teams.2 Ask your family doctor which outpatient psychiatric service covers your area. Most specialists who work with ADHD are in Tbilisi, so a first assessment may mean a trip to the capital.6
